HOW WE STARTED AND WHAT WE DO

Stacy Murphy, founder of House Pet Plant Sitting Company has always been involved with animals her entire life. She spent her early childhood years running barefoot with wild blonde hair as only a 5 year old can, chasing butterflies, digging potatoes with her feet, and helping with the assorted animals in the quiet farmlands of Grand Haven, Michigan.

She knew at a young age she had a passion, and wanted to work with animals to be a Forest Ranger, or a Veterinarian. In the end she got the best of both! Even as a teenager, she started caring for neighbors pets, kept a vast array of snakes, fish, insects, turtles, lizards and frogs - (much to her mother's dismay) and was deeply involved in assorted science projects, research, hiking, field projects and more.

In 1984, fresh out of high school, Stacy had already been performing pet care for hire, since she was 11. Seeing a need for professional pet care and home security in New Canaan, CT,  and it was at that time that she incorporated and formed House Pet Plant Sitting Company.

Stacy has been deeply involved in  local communities over the last 40+ years; participating as a volunteer firefighter, helping with assorted animal rescue organizations, owning 2 retail clothing stores in New Canaan, 2 Coffee Cafe's and restaurants, a past member of the Chamber of Commerce, owning an organic hobby farm in Redding, CT, and holding licenses as a certified beekeeper and chef.
